A retro coffee shop where smiles bloom and Hama heals.

Midori Shirai, the representative of Ichio, says with a smile, “We asked a contractor to do the interior design all together. Midori Shirai, the owner of Ichiyo, says with a smile, “I asked them to take a look at our family and create a restaurant that would suit us and look like Yokohama. We asked Midori Shirai to create a restaurant that would suit our family and fit us, and this is what she came up with. The result was a restaurant that, although calm, was bright and Yokohama-like. I have never heard a negative word from the founder, Yukie, or her sister Yoko, who also works at the store, or from customers. I heard that Yokohama has an image of bricks,” she said. That’s why they used so many bricks. These are not tiles, they are piled up one by one. It took a lot of time and effort. It must have been a good time.

The picture hanging on the wall is by Taku, Midori’s
younger brother and a painter.
Thetable, which is
reminiscent of a sunflower, is also a perfect match.

The table tops are made of custom-made Italian tiles that resemble sunflowers. When I looked around the restaurant, I saw that the bricks, the tables, and the light falling from the copper lights were all orange. It was calm, yet bright. When he saw us, he must have thought of sunflowers. Maybe because we talk and laugh a lot. Ms. Shirai laughed cheerfully.

Midori Shirai, who spoke to us. She has a lovely smile.

The store’s interior, with the aroma of coffee wafting softly in the air, is truly relaxing. There seem to be several reasons for this. First, the sofas are low, creating a sense of comfort as you sink into them. The brick partitions give you a sense of breathing space. Soft light pours in from the ceiling light. Above all, there is none of the “aloofness” that many restaurants these days unintentionally give off. But that does not mean that it is intrusive. There is just the right sense of distance that pervades the entire restaurant. Everyone says so, but I don’t know why. I don’t know why, but I think it’s because we are more laid back. After serving drinks and food, we sit at the end of the table and chat. To put it worse, we leave the customers alone. If they were to stand at the cash register all formal, they would feel uncomfortable, wouldn’t they? Midori smiles.

Model’s original iced coffee for 400 yen. It looks
ordinary.
But it has a deep flavor and aroma. You
will want to drink it not only in summer but also in winter.
